The end of a pilot team

Back in early 2023, I got wind that the Director of Web at IRCC (Jaime Johnston) was looking for someone to lead a pilot team whose mandate was to improve IRCC’s web presence through evidence and design. This was the opportunity I had been looking for!

I was able to convince her that I was the right person for the job, even though I had never managed a team before. Jaime took a chance, and gave me almost carte blanche to hire people and organize the team. I will forever be grateful­.

Over the last 3.5 years, I had the immense honour of leading an incredible small group of smart and dedicated people. Together, we worked hard to understand issues and propose solutions. Complex tool revamps, new designs, content rewrite - the team worked relentlessly to improve things. I’m incredibly proud of the work we did

The pilot came to an end a few weeks ago. But the work, methods and culture will live on, integrated into how IRCC’s web presence is handled.
